This is my last reminder for those who have yet to see SHIMMER, and for those who might like to get the word out to friends about it. Ticket sales could use a boost, so please consider sending the show information to those you know and love. Our shows are Friday at 5:15pm and Sunday at 9:30pm.
If you need any additional information, please find it out on our web site, and again, thanks so much for the support!
Gratefully,
Michael

I am always interested in the interplay between art and the Church. Especially when we commune with God through the arts. The arts are incredibly valuable in connecting the Spirit to something beyond reason. Or SomeOne. My friend Jim Robertson shares this belief, and so he has put together a project called Interface Worship. Here is an upcoming event they are putting on that I recommend checking out. Thanks to Jim Robertson for providing the details below.
Interface Worship and St. Paul’s Anglican church will close the church year and celebrate the Reign of Christ the King with an alternative worship service exploring the themes of ‘God rules from the wood of the Cross’ and ‘Our adoption into God’s Royal Family”. This service will include poetry by Mark Polet, graphic art by Reverend Thomas Brauer, prophetic painting by Lori Youngman, music led by Kathleen Pate, the Altarwalk devotional exercise, meditative time, open art tables, and the extensive use of original symbols, rituals, and imagery. The Eucharistic liturgy allows worshippers to embody the themes in a unique sacramental ritual of enduring quality and significance.
Interface Worship blends ancient spirituality with innovative expressions to create spiritually formational worship experiences. “The Reign of Christ the King” is part of the Throne Room series, which celebrates major points in the church year. Other Throne Room services include Epiphany, and the Rending of the Veil (Easter), and a fourth is in development. 2009-10 is St. Paul’s sixth year of hosting Interface Services.
Saturday, Nov. 21. Doors open at 6:30, service 7:00 – 8:45, at St. Paul’s Anglican. 145 St. & Stony Plain Road

Just came across this article from “One News Now” on the state of Drama in the Church. While it is interesting to hear some real life examples of what is going on, it did all feel fairly traditional to me. Perhaps I’m just too cynical? … Read the rest of this entry »
